Phoenix law firm foots bill for Suns billboard in Milwaukee ahead of Game 6
The Phoenix Suns face a win-or-go-home scenario on the road Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. With the team facing elimination with a 3-2 series deficit, an Arizona-based law firm has attempted to inspire the team by funding a billboard supporting the squad deep inside enemy territory.
The digital billboard bears the message “Go Suns!” and it went up Monday on Interstate 43 at North 12th Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue, a few miles away from the Bucks’ Fiserv Forum.
WISN-TV’s Hannah Hilyard shared an image of the billboard on social media.
Interestingly enough, it is not the first time a rival team has pulled off such billboard shenanigans on an opponent’s home turf.
The masterminds behind the pro-Suns trolling have been identified Phoenix-based law firm Warner Angle Hallam Jackson & Formanek, PLC.
“We love the NBA, love the Suns and it was just a way to support the Suns, support the NBA,” Warner Angle attorney and partner Phillip Visnansky told The Arizona Republic. “There’s so much good that happens, so many people get excited with the NBA Finals. It was just a way for us to kind of join some of that excitement. We don’t have the ability to go watch the Suns play in Wisconsin.”
The idea to foot the bill for the billboard came up Friday during a meeting of the firm’s partners. The signage was designed by national billboard company Lamar Advertising on Saturday, the same day the Suns lost Game 5 by a score of 123-119 in Phoenix.
“We were ending the day and enjoying a drink and were like, ‘Let’s do this!’ We made some calls to Milwaukee and surprisingly somebody answered the phone at 7 o’clock (Central Time),” Visnansky said.
Should the Suns stave off elimination Tuesday night in Game 6, Visansky vowed to cook up something special for a winner-take-all Game 7 showdown back in Phoenix.
“It’s all for fun, right? Nobody’s trying to troll the Milwaukee Bucks. It’s just supporting the Suns for what they’ve done,” Visnansky said. “It’s been a long time and great to see them back in the Finals. Hopefully they can pull through and make it to Game 7.”
Tip-off for Game 6 is set for 9:00 ET at Fiserv Forum. If necessary, the NBA Finals will return to Phoenix for Game 7 Thursday with a 9:00 ET gametime.
