LeBron James announces impending release of second children’s book
LeBron James continues to make inroads into the world of children’s literature, as the Los Angeles Lakers star on Tuesday officially announced the upcoming release of his second book in the genre.
The release of the new chapter book, titled, “We Are Family,” was first announced via social media by the LeBron James Family Foundation.
James later shared his excitement over the new book in an Instagram dispatch.
“Keep chasing your dreams even when the odds are stacked against you! You never know who you’ll meet on that journey or the challenges you’ll face TOGETHER!!” James wrote in part in the post.
The book is a “middle grade novel” that “follows five new friends, all with different dreams, goals, and backgrounds, as they band together to save their basketball season and prove that sometimes getting a chance is all it takes to succeed,” according to an Instagram post from James’ foundation.
James co-wrote the book with Andrea Williams, who tweeted about “We Are Family” and shared it’s release date, Aug. 31.
Williams is know for her biography, “Baseball’s Leading Lady,” about Effa Manley, who co-owned the Newark Eagles baseball franchise in the Negro Leagues with husband Abe Manley from 1935 to 1948.
As noted, “We Are Family” is James’ second children’s book. “I Promise,” inspired by James’ highly acclaimed I Promise school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, marked the NBA star’s literary debut and was published last year.
