Chattanooga Lookouts recover Looie mascot after costume goes missing
The Chattanooga Lookouts minor-league ball club are breathing a sigh of relief after the costume of mascot Looie was recovered after going missing earlier this week.
The Lookouts, an affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, announced this week that the Looie the Lookout costume, along with hundreds of dollars’ worth of merchandise and equipment, were stolen from an office at the team’s AT&T Field on Tuesday. The team took to social media to notify followers that authorities were alerted about the burglary. The Chattanooga Police Department posted an APB of their own, and the Lookouts’ shared the same.
The Case of the Missing Mascot, however, did have a happy ending as the purloined costume has since been recovered.
“I’m so happy to have my teammate back at home,” said Loouise the Lookout, per the The Chattanoogan. “I can’t wait to hear him recount the tale of his last 24 hours.”
Looie was found early Wednesday morning with help from the staff at the Tennessee Aquarium. “Everyone in the state of Tennessee can now breathe a sigh of relief,” said Lookouts President Rich Mozingo.
The Lookouts will open their 2021 campaign, with Looie in tow, on May 4.
