Tom Brady, family still residing in Derek Jeter’s Tampa-area home
Tom Brady, wife Gisele Bundchen and their family continue to reside in the Tampa-area home of Derek Jeter despite reports that the Buccaneers quarterback had his sights set on a home located on an exclusive island in Florida.
According to a report from Emily L. Mahoney of the Tampa Bay Times, Brady and his family have remained in Jeter’s $29 million home, which has been on the market since September. The rent is said to be in the range of $75,000 per month.
Brady has been leasing Jeter’s 30,000 square-foot, seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom waterfront mansion in the posh Davis Islands neighborhood in Tampa for what was believed to be on a temporary basis. However, word arose in December that Brady and Bundchen had plunked down $17 million for property on Indian Creek Island, famously known as “Billionaire’s Bunker.”
The exclusive neighborhood boasts mansions owned by Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, supermodel Adriana Lima and Julio Iglesias, among other A-listers and celebrities.
The couple’s plan was said to involve razing the existing residence on the property and building a new dream home in its place.
The decision by the super-couple to move their family on a more permanent basis — although it merits noting Brady and Bundchen own high-end properties all around the globe — is hardly a surprise. Late in the 2020 season, the NFL legend did not hide his disdain for the brutal winters he endured during his two-decade run with the New England Patriots.
“You won’t catch me dead living in the Northeast anymore,” Brady quipped.
Still, the news that Brady and his family continue to take up residence in Jeter’s palatial estate calls into question the exact status of the reported real-estate dealings surrounding the “Billionaire’s Bunker” property.
Given the news that the 43-year-old Brady intends to play at least one more season and the Buccaneers appear to be the most likely and sensible option for his return, odds are the quarterback will continue to search out how to properly set down permanent roots in the area.
