‘Truly blessed’ LeBron James excited ahead of Lakers’ Ring Night
The Los Angeles Lakers will receive their championship rings ahead of Tuesday night’s season-opening game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
While the ceremony will lack much of the traditional fanfare, buzz and excitement with the Staples Center seats left empty due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, LeBron James is nevertheless excited as the moment approaches when he’ll receive his fourth title ring.
WOW!!!! Ring 💍 Night man!! It just hit me. Man o Man!!! Hate my family, friends and fans won’t be there to witness it though! Nevertheless I can’t believe I’m RINGING it up again! #TrulyBlessed #ThekidfromAKRON— LeBron James (@KingJames) December 22, 2020
The Lakers have been installed as overwhelming favorites to be crowned consecutive NBA champions next summer, so there’s a decent chance James could secure “one for the thumb” in 2021.
That being said, the quick turnaround for James and the Lakers could cause some early-season issues, as the team has had only 71 days of offseason to recover, refresh and reload since eliminating the Miami Heat in six games in the NBA Finals.
There has been no shortage of consternation among players and team officials about the compressed offseason, including those expressed by Lakers star Anthony Davis, not to mention James.

James nevertheless believes the Lakers have the pieces in place to make another Finals run, saying the team can “absolutely” repeat as NBA champions.
However things ultimately shake out during the 2020-21 NBA season, LeBron’s quest to lead the Lakers to another “Ring Night” celebration next fall — hopefully with fans, friends and family in attendance — tips off Tuesday.
