James Harden sent Russell Westbrook birthday wishes amid Rockets drama
The Houston Rockets appear to be in a state of disarray, but the team’s two superstars seem to still be on great terms despite rumors suggesting otherwise.
Thursday marked Russell Westbrook’s 32nd birthday, and James Harden took to Instagram to wish his Rockets teammate a happy birthday.
The Rockets again saw their season end in crushing playoff disappointment, and the quicker-than-expected exit from the Orlando bubble led to widespread changes within the organization. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey and the organization agreed to part ways, and before that, head coach Mike D’Antoni was let go as well.
In the fallout from the seismic changes, rumors have began to surface that Westbrook and Harden are concerned about the direction of the Rockets and that both superstars, specifically Westbrook, may be looking for a change of scenery.
A handful of teams have been floated as possible trade partners for Westbrook, while chatter on Harden hasn’t been quite as prominent just yet, perhaps due to his reported and continued commitment to the team.
However, Westbrook has since swatted back at the speculation about him wanting out of Houston, mostly due to the belief he does not want to play with Harden anymore.

Things of course could change as time goes on, but Harden’s best birthday wishes to Westbrook — and the latter’s shutdown on purported trade demands — suggests that the two remain on solid footing despite the speculated drama.
