Charles Oakley named to upcoming cast of ‘Dancing with the Stars’
The cast members for the upcoming season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” were announced this week. One of the notable contestants who rose to fame in the sports world revealed Wednesday was Charles Oakley.
The announcement that the big, bruising New York Knicks legend will vie for the Mirror Ball trophy in the 29th season of the iconic reality show competition came on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

There has been an abundance of crossover between “Dancing with the Stars” and the sports world over the years, so the inclusion of Oakley, Davis and Weir aligns with how the reality show has historically chosen its contestants.
As far as Oakley is concerned, it remains to be seen how he’ll fare under the bright lights and intense pressure that comes with competing on the “Dancing with the Stars” stage. One thing that could have upped Oakley’s competitive fire, though, would have been if Knicks owner James Dolan was also a contestant …. for obvious reasons.
