Julian Edelman depicts himself as Batman to Cam Newton’s Superman in tweet
Julian Edelman is back to his social media hijinks, and his latest dispatch features some Photoshop hilarity though which he portrays himself as Batman. Cam Newton, meanwhile, is fittingly cast as Superman, which is a nod to his patented touchdown celebration.
Edelman shared the image in which he’s depicted as the Caped Crusader and Newton as the Man of Steel in a tweet on Tuesday.
“The night is darkest just before the dawn. And I promise you, the dawn is coming…” pic.twitter.com/LbsSkqoGok— Julian Edelman (@Edelman11) August 25, 2020
“The night is darkest just before the dawn. And I promise you, the dawn is coming…” is added to the tweet. The quote of course is from the classic film, “The Dark Knight,” and is interestingly said by Harvey Dent, not Batman. That said, the Patriots logo “Bat Signal” is a nice touch.
Edelman and Newton began the process of getting acquainted before the Patriots opened training camp with an on-field workout in July. Before that, Edelman expressed an eagerness about quickly getting to work with Newton in a tweet that mimicked the onetime MVP’s unique font-play.
It’s clear that the duo’s partnership is off to a solid start as Edelman gets acclimated to a new quarterback for the first time in the wake of Tom Brady’s departure to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Interestingly enough, Edelman dipped into his Photoshop bag of tricks in a clever attempt to convince Brady to stay before the six-time Super Bowl champion made his decision.
Now that Brady is gone, though, any future social media chicanery likely will now be reserved for Newton, who is widely expected to secure the Patriots’ starting quarterback job over Jarrett Stidham.
