LeBron James pledges to campaign for Joe Biden-Kamala Harris ticket

LeBron James has vowed to campaign for the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris ticket leading up to the 2020 election. The move should hardly come as a surprise given the Los Angeles Lakers superstar previously endorsed Biden last month.

James’ pledge came during an upcoming edition of VICE TV’s “Cari & Jemele: Stick To Sports” show. In a teaser of the interview, James made it clear that he believes that a change at the White House is critical.

“We are at a time where we need change,” James told co-host Jemele Hill, as transcribed by TMZ Sports. “… In order for change, it’s all about leadership — and leadership starts at the top.”

James has of course been a longstanding, vocal and harsh critic of Donald Trump throughout his politically polarizing presidency. Hill, who has her own controversial history with Trump, asked James how he arrived at his decision to back Biden-Harris.

“I think what’s known don’t need to be said,” James replied.

James is unequivocally and unapologetically one the most outspoken professional athletes of this or any other era when it comes to politics, social justice issues, systemic racism or otherwise.

The Lakers star’s support for Obama throughout his two-term presidency was as strong as his ongoing condemnation of Trump throughout his polarizing presidency. The fact that the Lakers superstar is fully backing Biden-Harris in the upcoming November elections was an inevitability.

What’s more, James is one of the leading voices behind “More Than A Vote,” a recently launched initiative led by a consortium of professional athletes that aspires to combat “systemic, racist voter suppression by educating, energizing, and protecting our community in 2020.”

James’ appearance on “Cari & Jemele: Stick To Sports” premieres Wednesday at 10 pm. ET.
