Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski exchange pleasantries on Twitter ahead of camp

Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski will resume their successful on-field partnership with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season, and the longtime teammates engaged pleasantries on Twitter ahead of training camp opening this week.

Gronkowski, who came out of retirement to join Brady in Tampa after a one-year retirement, got the ball rolling by expressing his readiness to being preparations for the 2020 season in earnest. With Gronk tweeting “It’s go time,” Brady responded in kind by firing off an “Indeed it is, Robert” tweet in response.

Standout wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin were already set to give Brady with plenty of offensive firepower at his disposal. Having Gronkowski join the already-lethal offense, however, makes the unit that much more formidable.

Brady’s preparations for his debut season with Bucs officially began in earnest last week when he arrived at the Bucs’ facility to undergo COVID-19 testing along with rookies, quarterbacks and injured players.

It does merit noting that both Brady and Gronkowski will have to pass coronavirus protocols before entering the Bucs’ training facility by way of a series of negative tests. With training camps opening across the NFL with players reporting on Tuesday, the two superstars are expected to be on the field in due time, barring any coronavirus-related setbacks.

It’s clear from their Twitter banter that both future Hall of Famers are eager to get to work, the sooner the better.
