Zion Williamson receives Thanos Infinity Gauntlet pendant for birthday

Monday marked Zion Williamson’s 20th birthday, and the New Orleans Pelicans rookie received a piece of jewelry inspired by Marvel’s “Avengers” films as an outstanding gift.

As relayed by TMZ Sports, celebrity jeweler ZoFrost shared on Instagram an image of the custom pendant modeled after the Infinity Gauntlet — which of course is the diabolical weapon utilized by supervillain Thanos — he created and gave to Williamson.

ZoFrost went on to post a photograph of Williamson rocking the new Thanos-inspired bling. The social media dispatch also included a brief video, in which the intricate detailing of the pendant — including all the Infinity Stones on the gauntlet that holds a basketball — is showcased.

Williamson previously made it known that Thanos, despite his supervillain status, is his favorite character in the blockbuster “Avengers” movies.

Interestingly enough, as the NBA kicks things into high gear ahead of the tentatively scheduled July 30 restart at the Walt Disney World Resort’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., an image of a ripped and perceptively well-prepared Williamson evoked comparisons to another dastardly comic book villain: Bane, Batman’s musclebound arch-nemesis.

Given all the hype surrounding Williamson ahead of the NBA’s imminent restart, perhaps it would be wise for the 21 other teams heading down to Orlando to consider the rookie phenom just as big of a threat — relatively speaking — as both Thanos and Bane are in the comic book world.
