White Sox roll out fan cutout promotion for opening homestand
The Chicago White Sox have announced an initiative through which fans can have cardboard cutouts of their likenesses in the stands for the team’s opening homestand later this month.
Dubbed FANtastic Faces, fans can submit images beginning Wednesday, and should they satisfy the conditions laid out by the team, will have their likeness displayed at Guaranteed Rate Field for the series against the Minnesota Twins scheduled for July 24-27.
The cost amounts to $49, and all proceeds will benefit White Sox charities.

A limited number of cutouts are available. All net proceeds will benefit @soxcharities.
The initiative is limited to 1,500 cutouts, and fans can obtain their MLB-authenticated cardboard likenesses sometime in August, so long as they pay the $30 shipping charges.
With the initiative, the White Sox join a handful of MLB teams — including the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics and Los Angeles Angels — seeking ways to get fans tangentially involved in a season when ballparks will not welcome spectators, at least at the onset.
Expect to see MLB teams to collectively brainstorm ways to liven up otherwise sterile ballpark environments devoid of fans as the season proceeds.
That being said, it remains to be seen whether any big-league team will go so far as to introduce dancing robots to inject some artificial atmosphere, as one professional baseball team in Japan did earlier this week.
