Kobe Bryant honored with ‘NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever’ special edition
Kobe Bryant has been unveiled as the cover athlete for the “Mamba Forever” special edition” of “NBA 2K21,” an announcement that is tinged with a note of sadness in light of the tragic circumstances of the Los Angeles Lakers icon’s death earlier this year.
2K Sports made the news official in a series of tweets shared Thursday morning.

Bryant joins Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard (current-gen consoles) and New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson (next-gen consoles) as the third and final “NBA 2K21” cover athlete for the upcoming iteration of the iconic video game series.
Bryant perished along with daughter Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif., on Jan. 26. The cover-athlete tribute was likely to occur even without his untimely passing, but now the honor unfortunately and sadly is done in memoriam.
