Adult website Stripchat makes $15M naming-rights bid for Superdome
The agreement between the New Orleans Saints and Mercedes-Benz over naming rights of the Superdome comes to an end next year. With companies lining up and submitting bids to secure the iconic stadium’s naming rights, a surprisingly unconventional organization has stepped up to make a significant offer.
As first reported by Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, adult entertainment website Stripchat has entered the Superdome naming-rights fray with a $15 million bid.
“We have been looking into penetrating the sports world and this is a wonderful opportunity,” Stripchat communication director Max Bennett said. “I’d like to think that we here at Stripchat embody some of New Orleans’ character and flair.”
Interestingly, such a bold move by an adult entertainment website to make a play for stadium naming rights is not unprecedented. Last year, BangBros offered $10 million to secure the naming rights to the Miami Heat’s home arena, which is presently known as AmericanAirlines Arena.
Bids of this kind by companies such as Bangbros are often nothing more than a glorified publicity stunt, as is the case when adult websites and the like attempt to get their commercials aired during the Super Bowl. However, it sounds like Stripchat is serious about having its name associated with the Saints as well as the Superdome in the coming years.
“We’d like to name it the ‘Stripchat Superdome’ and for it to be home to the future Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints,” Bennett said.
