Nationals got thrown out of hotel bar after World Series win
The Washington Nationals staged a miraculous comeback after being down 3-2 to the Houston Astros in the World Series last fall before winning Games 6 and 7 on the road to secure the championship.
Basking in the immediate afterglow of the team’s title, the players’ understandable revelry following the team’s thrilling Game 7 victory bled into the wee hours of the night, which turned out to have some amusingly unfortunate consequences.
Nationals pitcher Patrick Corbin took part in an AMA session for Bleacher Report this week, during which the left-hander revealed how the post-win carousing led to the team getting 86’d from a hotel bar. The team moved the party to another location … where they remained until the next morning.
“We definitely celebrated,” Corbin said in response to a fan inquiry. “We got kicked out of the hotel bar, so we found another bar that we were at until 7 a.m. That was a blast.
“The next day was Halloween. We chartered back in the morning to D.C. and got to hand out candy to the kids, but we were all in rough shape.”
It certainly sounds like Nationals players were a hurting collective unit following their all-nighter, although it’s certainly not uncommon for a team celebrating a championship to take things a little too far in the immediate hours, even days, after winning it all. Odds are most players who were suffering from colossal hangovers or what have that next day would say that the damage was all worth it.
