NFL reveals $35M raised for relief efforts, releases star-studded COVID-19 PSA
The National Football League on Thursday released a PSA featuring such superstars as Tom Brady and Russell Wilson in which the message “Stay Home, Stay Strong” is relayed amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The roster of league luminaries who also appear in the pubic service announcement includes the likes of Brett Favre, Ray Lewis, Derek Carr, Jerry Rice and Michael Strahan, among many others.

The PSA — which officially launched the NFL’s #StayHomeStayStrong initiative — came on the same day the league announced that more than $35 million has been raised for COVID–19 relief efforts through the cooperation between the league, NFLPA, teams, owners and players.
“We have all been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, we need to unify to stay home and stay strong,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “The NFL will continue to find ways to give our support so we can get through this time of uncertainty together.”
The American Red Cross, Bob Woodruff Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, CDC Foundation, GENYOUth Foundation, Meals on Wheels America, Salvation Army, Team Rubicon, United Way and Wounded Warrior Project are the 10 organizations that will receive the funds raised by the league.
The NFL is doing its level best to keep league operations running to some extent despite Goodell’s directive this week that all 32 teams close all facilities until April 8. The 2020 NFL Draft will be held April 23-25 as scheduled, albeit with drastic changes and lack of typical fanfare. All public events originally planned for the draft in Las Vegas have been canceled.
Along with the #StayHomeStayStrong initiative and fundraising, the NFL “continues to closely coordinate with all 32 teams, public health authorities, as well as community and philanthropic partners on additional opportunities to offer support to those who most need it during this unprecedented time,” per the league’s statement.
