Buccaneers team store now selling No. 12 Tom Brady jerseys

There was a modicum of uncertainty surrounding whether or not Tom Brady would continue to don No. 12 after joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it appears the team’s official store seems to have spilled the beans on that front.

No. 12 Brady jerseys are now available for purchase on the Buccaneers’ official site, as noted by Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

It does merit noting that the Brady jersey depicted in the listing is completely generic, as the Buccaneers are set to undergo a rebrand ahead of the 2020 season, as first reported by Paul Lukas of Uni Watch.

There was never really any doubt that Brady — who spoke with reporters for the first time on Tuesday since signing with the Bucs — would claim the coveted No. 12 he wore with the New England Patriots over his two-decade NFL career.

That being said, Chris Godwin, the superstar wide receiver currently in possession of the Bucs’ No. 12 jersey, hinted at some reluctance over handing the number over to Brady before understandably relenting.

“Obviously it’s a very important number,” Godwin said. “But, I mean, at the end of the day, it’s like, if Tom wants it, you know, I kinda gotta defer to that, you know? He’s, he’s the GOAT, you know? He’s so accomplished. He got, like, the big brand and, you know, just me as, like, a guy that’s still tryna to establish himself, I feel like, just out of respect, you know, I’ve gotta defer that to him.

“But if he don’t want it, then by all means, I’mma keep it.”

In light of the availability of a Brady No. 12 jersey at the Bucs’ official team store, it certainly appears that any lingering issues between Brady and Godwin have been resolved.
