NBA All-Star Game jerseys honoring Kobe, Gianna, David Stern revealed
The 2020 NBA All-Star Game this coming weekend will be played with heavy hearts due to the recent deaths of Kobe and Gianna Bryant, not to mention revered former commissioner David Stern.
While it was previously announced that the league would honor Kobe, Gianna and Stern, images surfaced Wednesday that showcase how the jerseys worn by All-Star players will help in paying proper tribute to those lives lost.
Darren Rovell of Action Network shared images of the jerseys Team LeBron and Team Giannis will don during Sunday’s All-Star Game.
Team LeBron will wear No. 2 jerseys in honor of the number Gianna wore on her youth basketball team. Players for Team Giannis, meanwhile, will feature the No. 24 on their jerseys, of course in honor of one of the numbers Kobe wore during his Hall of Fame career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The jerseys will also feature patches to honor the memories of Stern, along with the nine people who perished in the helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif., on Jan. 26, including Kobe and Gianna.
The No. 2 and No. 24 All-Star jerseys will not be made available for purchase by fans due to the last-minute changes made in the wake of last month’s tragic events.
The NBA will of course ensure that the Bryants, the seven others who died in the crash and Stern are remembered throughout All-Star Weekend, which tips off Friday at Chicago’s United Center. This includes the format itself for Sunday’s All-Star Game, specifically the fourth quarter, which will honor Kobe.
