LeBron James’ outlook after Anthony Davis injury: ‘Who said it would be easy?’
Anthony Davis will be sidelined for a minimum of two games after suffering a lower back injury in Tuesday’s win over the New York Knicks, and LeBron James acknowledged losing the superstar will be a challenge for the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Who said it would be easy? In the NBA, guys get injured. Guys get sick. Obviously we know what AD’s meant for this team,” James said after the Lakers’ 117-87 victory, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “Obviously there’s no replacing him. You can’t say you replace what he does, he does everything. But everybody else has got to chip in and be better. We’ll see what happens with his injury and take it from there.”
Davis took a scary fall to floor during the third quarter after attempting to block a shot, landing awkwardly on his back.

Davis was ultimately able to make it to the Lakers’ locker room on his own, but it was clear he was hurting.

X-rays on Davis’ back came back negative, and the Lakers later announced that he suffered a bruised sacrum.
Davis is expected to undergo an MRI on Wednesday, but the Lakers have ruled him out of the team’s upcoming two-game road trip regardless of the test results.
James relayed after the game that Davis was in good spirits in the locker room despite the setback.
“He was great,” James said. “His mood was great. As great as it can be with the fall that he took … I asked him if I could do anything for him, he said you got to win for me. That’s what our team is all about.”
Davis has helped spur the Lakers to a Western Conference-best 30-7 record, averaging 27.7 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists. The Lakers obviously are holding out hope the superstar only misses the already-announced two games.
