Snoop Dogg now featured in ‘NHL 20’ as color analyst, player

Snoop Dogg, one of the biggest celebrity NHL fans on the planet, is now a featured character in to “NHL 20,” both as a color analyst and more strangely, as a playable character.

EA Sports has been hinting at Snoop’s inclusion in the latest iteration of the long-running video game series all week. On Thursday, the rap icon’s presence in “NHL 20” was officially unveiled.

Additional footage of Snoop’s skills on the mic as color commentator, where he works alongside play-by-play announcer James Cybulski, has also hit social media.

The playable Snoop Dogg character can be found in World of Chel online multiplayer suite, where the legend rocks a custom sweater that bears the zip code of his hometown, Long Beach, Calif., along the bottom trim.

Anyone who suspects the inclusion of Snoop in “NHL 20” is some kind of hackneyed gimmick, think again. The rapper’s NHL bona fides are legit going back years, and he filmed a promotional video for the league just last season.

The Doggfather also made a celebrated appearance during FOX Sports West’s coverage of a tilt between the Los Angeles Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins. Suffice to say, it was something to behold.

With the addition on “NHL 20,” Snoop joins the ranks of Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who were added to the game last month.
