Christian McCaffrey named youngest ‘Madden 99 Club’ member ever

Christian McCaffrey is now an esteemed member of the “99 Club” in “Madden 20,” and the standout Carolina Panthers running back is unsurprisingly pretty flattered by the honor.

EA Sports announced Thursday that McCaffrey joins Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack and fellow in-season honoree, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as “99 Club” members in the latest iteration of the iconic video game series.

Even more impressive about McCaffrey’s “99 Club” announcement is that he now holds the distinction of being the youngest player ever to gain membership to the exclusive club.

“It’s unreal to be the youngest player ever to reach 99 overall in ‘Madden NFL’ and to know the adjuster team feels my performance on the field warrants the highest rating is extremely flattering,” McCaffrey said of the honor, per Bleacher Report. “Very few athletes achieve the 99 rating, and I’m honored to join such an elite group.”

Video has since been shared of McCaffrey accepting his “99 Club” plaque at a recent Panthers practice.

If there was one player in the NFL this season who most deserved being tabbed for the “99 Club” in “Madden 20,” it’s McCaffrey. The Panthers back has been a one-man wrecking crew this season, with 1,059 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground while averaging 5.3 yards per carry.

McCaffrey of course is just as dangerous running routes out of the backfield as well, as he has 59 receptions for 517 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers’ passing attack.

A well-deserved honor, indeed.
