Saquon Barkley’s dad may wear Joe Namath jersey to Jets-Giants game
Giants running back Saquon Barkley’s father Alibay is a longtime Jets fan, and his devotion to his favorite NFL team and his son will collide on Sunday when the Giants and Jets clash in a Week 10 showdown at MetLife Stadium.
The conflicting loyalties have been a source of playful back-and-forth between father and son ever since Saquon was selected by the Giants with the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Things will come to a head, however, come Sunday, and it sounds like the elder Barkley may side with the “J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets” brigade.
Saquon revealed to reporters Thursday that his dad is considering wearing his Joe Namath jersey to MetLife Stadium.

“That’s going to be an interesting one,” Barkley said of his dad’s potential choice of attire, per Matt Lombardo of NJ Advanced Media.
It turns out the Namath replica jersey was a gift from Saquon, who was a Jets fan as well growing up. That doesn’t take away all the sting of his father potentially donning a Broadway Joe jersey on Sunday, although it seems like Barkley has reconciled himself to the realities of the situation.
“Is he going to root for the Jets, yes,” Barkley said. “But he’s going to root for the Giants and his son.”
The Jets and Giants have squared off previously since Barkley’s NFL arrival, albeit in a preseason matchup, but the running back sat out that August exhibition ahead of last season.
“He gets the best of both worlds,” Barkley said of his dad. “He gets to watch his team he grew up rooting for and watch his son live his dream.
