‘Impeach Trump’ banner unfurled as boos greet president at World Series

Along with boos and mocking chants, President Donald Trump was greeted with a banner calling for his impeachment while attending Game 5 of the World Series Sunday night between the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals.

Trump, along with wife Melania, arrived at Nationals Park shortly after the first inning. When he was shown on the ballpark’s big screen, Trump was subjected to boos. Chants of “Lock him up,” a play on the oft-used line shouted by supporters during Trump rallies in reference to Hillary Clinton, could also be heard.

Trump, who has been an overwhelmingly polarizing presence in the world of sports throughout his presidency, was also seen reacting to the reception.

Later during the game, there were at least two instances where banners were displayed calling for Trump’s impeachment. One that was draped over the railing in right field during the seventh inning was quickly removed by stadium security, per reports.

A “Veterans for Impeachment” sign was also prominently displayed in the seats behind home plate.

A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond for a request for comment from BuzzFeed. As of early Monday morning, Trump has yet to tweet about attending the Astros’ 7-1 victory over the host Nationals.
