Odell Beckham to give Tom Brady pair of goat-haired ‘GOAT’ cleats
The Cleveland Browns are heading to Foxboro for a Sunday afternoon tilt with the New England Patriots in Week 8, and Odell Beckham Jr. is bringing along a special, albeit odd, gift for Tom Brady.
Inspired by Brady being widely heralded as the Greatest of All Time, or GOAT for short (much to the Pats QB’s chagrin), Beckham will be presenting the Patriots legend with a pair of custom cleats made in some part out of goat hair. It merits noting that Beckham, perhaps as no surprise, also has a pair of his own.
“I have a pair of cleats for him made out of — I hope no animals were really harmed — but made out of goat hair,” Beckham said at a recent charity bowling event with Cleveland-area students, via the Akron Beacon Journal. “[I have a pair] for me, too, but I’m gonna give them to him because he’s one of the GOATs, and he’s more the GOAT than I am.”
Bill Belichick praised Beckham ahead of Sunday’s matchup, saying he has “a ton of respect for him as a football player.” Beckham was informed of the Patriots head coach’s praise at the bowling event.
“I remember me saying a quote about wanting to be like the Patriots,” Beckham said. “It’s like, ‘Who doesn’t want to win and who doesn’t want to have a full team perform … just the full, complete game, the way [Belichick has] made that organization along with Brady and [owner Robert] Kraft and everybody else who’s come through and kinda molded and developed it?’
“I’ll see [Belichick] after the game, and I’ll give him love or if I see him before the game. It’s always nothing but love and respect for Brady as well.”
As Beckham notes, he created some buzz after signing with the Browns in the offseason by stating he was eager to help his new team become the “new” Patriots, as it were. The backlash required Beckham to walk back his comments.

Given Beckham and the Browns have failed to live up to the preseason hype to the tune of a 2-4 record, perhaps the wide receiver’s original chatter was a bit premature. But hey, Brady probably is really going to dig his goat-haired GOAT cleats, so there’s that.
