K.C. church holding prayer services for Patrick Mahomes’ bum ankle

Patrick Mahomes has been dealing all season with a nagging ankle injury, and a Kansas City-area church will seek some divine intervention on his behalf by holding prayer services this coming Sunday.

Mahomes originally suffered the ankle injury, believed to be a sprain, in Week 1, but the quarterback has battled through it, playing in all six games.

The Chiefs are on the NFL’s “Thursday Night Football” docket in Week 7 and will face a tough defense in a divisional showdown with the Denver Broncos.

Obviously, the scheduled prayer services Sunday at Asbury United Methodist church in Prairie Village, Mo., won’t arrive in time for Thursday night’s game, but odds are Mahomes will not be fully recovered from his ankle injury by this weekend.

“With the last two games, we kind of thought that they may need some type of help,” said Dave Burton, facilities director at Asbury United Methodist church in Prairie Village, via FOX4 News. “We knew that his ankle was injured so we decided to possibly have a healing service to help him heal that ankle quicker.”

The Chiefs are in need of a win on Sunday after dropping two straight games following a 4-0 start to the season. Both losses shockingly came in the typically friendly confines of Arrowhead Stadium.

Perhaps a change of scenery will serve the Chiefs well and the Mahomes-led squad will walk out of Sports Authority Field with a victory. Then, following Sunday’s prayer services, perhaps Mahomes will be fully healthy for a Week 8 matchup on Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers … with or without the help of any potential divine intervention.
