Carlos Correa meets with family of fallen Houston police officer

Astros star Carlos Correa attempted to provide some semblance of comfort to the grieving family of a slain Houston police officer by meeting with them on Monday and making a $10,000 donation.
Sandeep Dhaliwal was fatally shot during a routine traffic stop last Friday, and the outpouring of support, including Correa’s gesture, shows the impact his tragic death has had on the Houston community.
FOX26’s Mark Berman shared footage from Monday, in which Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shares that Correa’s appearance led to the first time he has seen the Dhaliwal family smile since Friday’s tragedy.

Manpreet Kaur Singh, a spokesperson for the faimly, later relayed how Correa personally meeting with them at their home left them deeply touched.

Correa also took to Twitter after meeting with the family, making note in the tweet how Dhaliwal, the first Sikh deputy in Houston, helped victims of the hurricanes that plagued Houston and his native Puerto Rico in recent years.
Thank you Sandeep for everything you did to help others here in Houston and Puerto Rico! Rest In Peace you’ll always be remembered! https://t.co/nulCccufeT

The AL-best Astros of course have begun preparations for an ALDS showdown with either the Tampa Bay Rays or Oakland Athletics that begins Friday.
The fact that Correa took time to pay his respects and honor an officer killed in the line of duty certainly demonstrates his deep commitment to the greater Houston community.
