Vic Fangio backs Emmanuel Sanders over ‘world of suck’ talk
Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio reacted Monday to Emmanuel Sanders’ extremely candid comments about the team’s sorry start. Perhaps to no surprise given the dire circumstances, Fangio revealed he completely agrees with the wide receiver’s damning characterization.
The Broncos dropped Sunday’s road game against the Green Bay Packers by a score of 27-16, leaving the team reeling with an 0-3 start. After the game, Sanders offered up arguably the quote of the early NFL season by bemoaning how the Broncos are mired in a “world of suck.”

Amid Monday’s postmortem, Fangio admitted Sanders was simply echoing the sentiments the first-year head coach expressed in the postgame locker room.
This is seriously what I want to hear from the coach after an 0-3 start.— Doctor of Words (and tights and kicking ass) (@docllv) September 23, 2019

“He was just repeating what I had said in locker room following game,” Fangio said. “I told them We’re going to have to deal with everybody thinking we suck. All of us. Not just players. Coaches, everybody in organization. We need to deal with that.’’
Only six teams since 1980 have recovered from an 0-3 start to qualify for the postseason, so the Broncos already are being confronted with the prospects of a lost season.
It’s no surprise there is an abundance of doom and gloom when it comes to the Broncos, and the team desperately needs a victory at home over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday to stop the slide. Even if that comes to fruition, it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to turn around the Broncos’ season.
