Adult site submits $10M bid for naming rights to Heat arena
BangBros, a popular adult entertainment company, announced this week it has submitted a bid to secure the naming rights to the Miami Heat’s home arena, which is currently known as AmericanAirlines Arena.
The bid is for $10 million and the company seeks to rename the arena “The BBC” – or “The Bang Bros Center.”
The announcement came via the company’s official Twitter account, as reported by the New York Post.
“The last major winning sports team the city had, the Miami heat, were led by legends Dwayne [sic] Wade, Lebron James, and Chris Bosh,” read the statement. “That’s why another legend, adult company BangBros, wants to come in and put their stamp of approval on the arena.”
“It doesn’t get much more Miami than having the arena sponsored by BangBros.”
Indeed, although there are arguably quite a few things “more Miami” than slapping this particular company’s name on the Heat’s arena. Further, given the official statement features an egregious misspelling of Heat icon Dwyane Wade’s first name, well, their bid is off to an awkwardly inauspicious start.
American Airlines announced this week that the company will not seek to extend its naming rights deal with the Heat, which is set to expire at the end of the year.
All that said, it’s safe to assume that the league will not take by BangBros’ bid seriously, even if the NBA is arguably the most progressive among America’s big-time pro sports leagues. Just like how adult websites and the like attempt to get their commercials aired during the Super Bowl, nothing will come of this gambit as well.
