Browns fan faces indefinite ban for dumping beer on Titans players

A Cleveland Browns fan who sprayed beer on celebrating Tennessee Titans fans faces an indefinite ban from FirstEnergy Stadium once identified, according to a statement from the team.

“This individual person’s action is not tolerated in our building as it is not reflective of our fan base or city,” the statement from the Browns read, via Mary Kay Cabot of “We’re currently addressing the situation internally, along with NFL Security, and we believe we have identified the person involved. He will ultimately face an indefinite ban from FirstEnergy Stadium for the unacceptable behavior, which is in clear violation of our Fan Code of Conduct.”

The incident occurred after Malcolm Butler returned a pick-six during the Titans’ 43-13 blowout win over the host Browns. As Titans players celebrated the touchdown — with some of them leaping into the stands — a Browns fan wearing a Baker Mayfield jersey seated nearby doused them with beer.

Titans cornerback Logan Ryan was among the players sprayed with beer, and he railed against the fan’s conduct both on social media and later during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

Interestingly, Browns legend Joe Thomas has a different take on the incident. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Thomas pointed out that the Titans players who leapt into the stands violated league rules.

Thomas may indeed be correct with his interpretation of NFL rules, but odds are it won’t save the fan from getting punished by the Browns with an indefinite ban once he’s ID’d.
