Lakers’ Jared Dudley offering ticket to fans who buy his jersey

Jared Dudley is among the several new faces on the Los Angeles Lakers roster, and the veteran is planning a ticket giveaway to get fans to buy his jersey.

There obviously are no shortage of higher-profile options for Lakers fans in the market for a new jersey, starting with the likes of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, among others.

While Davis jerseys presumably will be flying off the rack given how he just joined the team, jerseys for Dudley — not to mention the other less-heralded players on the roster — will not be as hot a commodity by a long shot. That’s where Dudley’s free ticket-for-jersey purchase comes into play.

Dudley, a journeyman forward who has played for the then-Charlotte Bobcats, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets during his 13-year NBA career, took to Twitter this week to announce he will give one ticket to a Lakers home game to any fan who buys his jersey at the team’s pro shop.

Dudley later tweeted out his plan to make sure a boatload of Lakers fans can land free tickets.

Additional details apparently will follow come closer to training camp.

Dudley deserves a lot of credit for coming up with this clever promotion. His jersey may not be as in demand as his more celebrated celebrity teammates, odds are there nevertheless will be at least 100 Dudley jerseys in the Staples Center stands come next season.
