CC Sabathia makes ‘Rock of Ages’ cameo during show’s ‘Yankee Night’
CC Sabathia may be currently riding the pine in the New York Yankees dugout due to knee inflammation, but the veteran pitcher was nevertheless able to make a cameo this week onstage in an off-Broadway production of a popular musical.
On Wednesday night, the 2007 AL Cy Young Award winner and six-time All-Star hit the stage for a production of “Rock of Ages” for “Yankees Night” at New World Stages. The performance of the show, currently celebrating its 10th anniversary, benefited the Carlos Beltran Foundation and included a curtain call featuring current and former Yankees players.
Sabathia, regaled in rock star attire and sporting a wig and frontman-esque bandana, was a huge hit.

Footage of Sabathia’s stage debut was later posted to Facebook on the show’s official page.
CC Sabathia? More like C.C. DeVille, the lead guitarist from Poison, right?
Joining Sabathia at the performance were Yankees teammates Didi Gregorious, Dellin Betances and Aroldis Chapman, all of whom later posed for a photo with the cast.

Back at the ballpark and concerning Sabathia’s stint on the IL, Yankees manager Aaron Boone doesn’t expect the pitcher to be sidelined long. Until he returns to the mound, though, rock on, CC Sabathia. Rock on.
