LeBron James hints at return of patented pregame chalk toss
It’s been years since LeBron James consistently incorporated his patented chalk toss into his regular pregame routine, but the Los Angeles Lakers superstar teased its potential return in a recent social media dispatch.
It all started when Timeless Sports tweeted out a tribute to James’ pregame chalk toss, something that became an integral aspect of his on-court persona early on in his career. On Thursday, James responded to the tweet and indicated the chalk toss “could be making a return this coming year until forever!”

The chalk toss became part and parcel of James’ pregame routine during his first stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, though he did execute the move sporadically during his time with the Miami Heat and upon his return to the Cavs.
Interestingly, James teased like he was going with the chalk toss during his first preseason game with the Lakers, only to simply rub the chalk into his hands.

Also, in other quasi-on-court news regarding the Lakers, Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reports that James is giving up his No. 23 jersey for Anthony Davis , which is nice, and the assumption is James will return to the No. 6 jersey number he wore during his time with the Heat.
In other words, perhaps the new-old jersey number will inspire James to bring back something else from his storied past.
