Von Miller blasts ‘ridiculous’ 2-14 record prediction for Broncos

Von Miller recently was asked for his reaction to a prediction suggesting the Denver Broncos will endure a horrible 2019 season loaded with losses, and the superstar linebacker blasted any such notion as “ridiculous.”

Miller fielded some questions this week from Orange & Blue 760’s Brandon Krisztal at his youth football camp, and one was related to how “guys on NFL Network” predicted the Broncos will suffer through a 2-14 campaign next season.

Miller unsurprisingly took issue with the contention that the Broncos would be among the NFL’s worst teams next season.

“It’s America, you can have your opinion on whatever,” Miller said. “But I’ll tell you right now: we’re not going 2-14. That’s just ridiculous. We’ve got a great quarterback, we’ve got a great offensive line, we’ve got a great running back, we’ve got a great receiver in Courtland Sutton — and all the guys on offense. We’ve got a great defense, we’ve got a great defensive coach, we’ve got a great coaching staff. There’s no way we go 2-14. I’m not accepting that.”

The Broncos are coming off consecutive losing seasons, posting a 5-11 and 6-10 records in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Substandard play at the quarterback position contributed heavily to the disappointing campaigns, something the Broncos will attempt to rectify by bringing in veteran Joe Flacco.

It of course remains to be seen if Flacco — who has had a debate loom over his career concerning whether he is truly an “elite” QB — can lead the Broncos to a winning season. It’s also unclear how Vic Fangio will fare in his first year as an NFL head coach.

All that said, Miller clearly believes the Broncos will fare much better in 2019 than at least a handful of so-called experts believe.
