Greg Olsen films proposal, shares moment with couple
Greg Olsen recently happened upon a couple in the midst of a proposal, and the snap decision to film it inspired a great exchange as it was learned afterward that the man popping the question is actually a Carolina Panthers fan.
Olsen, in Nashville for a speaking engagement, was at his hotel when he noticed a man getting down on bended knee. The Panthers tight end later shared the video of the proposal.
“So I’m walking through my hotel in Nashville when this dude gets down on a knee,” Olsen writes on Instagram. “I wish I had my engagement on video so I pull my phone out and capture it. Glad I did even though I didn’t know who they were! Congrats and wish you a lifetime of happiness!!”
The happy couple in question were Max Harbat and Brooke Hartranst. Not yet knowing the identity of the individual who filmed the proposal, Harbat tells Olsen, “You’re my hero.”
Harbat’s understandable excitement over his engagement was bolstered by a sense of awe when the “huge” Panthers fan recognized Olsen.
“I was like, ‘I’m 90 percent sure that’s Greg Olsen from the Panthers!’,” Harbat, who revealed the proposal was a spur-of-the-moment decision, told the Panthers’ official site. “Brooke looked at me and didn’t believe me. She just thought I was too excited and wasn’t seeing straight. But I’m like, ‘No, that’s him. I’ve seen him on TV and in interviews. That’s him!’
“… I was like, ‘Oh my God, you’re telling me that Greg Olsen just recorded the whole thing?’ I was so excited. It was amazing. He was really respectful. He didn’t want to steal any of the moment from us. He sent me the video and said congratulations and wished us the best.”
Olsen, upon watching the two share a kiss after Hartranst said “yes,” called the moment the “the best thing I’ve ever witnessed.”
