New Orleans’ Popeyes unveil 82-inch ‘Wingspan Box’ in Zion Williamson’s honor
Zion Williamson will become the No. 1 pick when the New Orleans Pelicans select him in the 2019 NBA Draft on Thursday night, and a local Popeyes outpost is going big to welcome the superstar.
Popeyes, known countrywide for it’s “Louisiana Style” fried chicken and sides, announced via Twitter on Wednesday that the restaurant on New Orleans’ Canal Street will be selling an 82-inch “Wingspan Box” in tribute to Williamson’s considerable reach.

The “Wingspan Box” measures in at the aforementioned 82 inches (6 feet and 10 inches) and includes 77 boneless wings, 11 biscuits, 11 servings of fries and dipping sauces. It will be sold exclusively at the Canal Street location on draft day only, costs a whopping $74.69 and only while supplies last.
Williamson will undoubtedly be the centerpiece around which the Pelicans will rebuild — or at least retool — now that Anthony Davis has been traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. What better way for Pelicans fans to welcome Williamson to The Big Easy and celebrate his arrival than by indulging on an unreal amount of New Orleans-style fried chicken goodness?
