Anthony Davis announced as ‘creative partner’ with potato chip line

Anthony Davis is moving on to a new NBA team next season thanks to the blockbuster trade between the New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers, and the superstar will enter the next phase of his NBA career armed with a new, not to mention unique, endorsement partnership.

Front Office Sports announced via statement Tuesday that Davis has joined potato chip line Ruffles as a “creative partner.”

Davis becomes the NBA’s first player to boast a potato chip endorsement deal, and he is expected to play a role in Ruffles’ development of new products.

“The Ruffles brand is all about ‘owning your ridges’ and AD personifies that bold, unapologetic individuality,” said Sadira Furlow, vice president of marketing for Frito-Lay North America, in an interview with Front Office Sports.

Davis has already assisted in designing a custom, limited-edition signature shoe called “The Ruffles Ridge Tops” as a part of the developing partnership with Ruffles in coordination with Nike.

“Ruffles keeps finding new ways to make the game more fun for basketball fans and a ‘Chip Deal’ in itself is unprecedented – which is exactly why I wanted to do it,” Davis said in a statement. “From the design of ‘The Ridge Tops’ to new flavors and contests, I have a lot of ideas and Ruffles shares my excitement for making them happen.”

The endorsement deal between Davis and Ruffles will last until the 2020 NBA All-Star Game, which is slated to be played in the superstar’s hometown of Chicago.
