T.J. Watt has high praise for ‘quicker than snot’ Devin Bush
The Pittsburgh Steelers used the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to select linebacker Devin Bush, and from the sound of it, the former Michigan Wolverines standout is making a great first impression during OTAs.
Among the Steelers who were left impressed with Bush’s performance so far in the team’s offseason program is fellow linebacker T.J. Watt. It’s how Watt colorfully praised Bush’s speed, though, is what makes his thoughts on the 20-year-old so amusing, perhaps even arguably confusing.

“Yeah, he’s not the biggest guy, but he definitely does walk with a presence and he walks with a purpose and he’s taking a good role in knowing all the plays and being able to call some plays for us,” Watt said of Bush, as transcribed by Steelers Depot. “And he is quicker than snot and he’s been flying around making a lot of good plays, so I’m excited for him.”
“Quicker than snot” is maybe the oddest manner in which you can herald the speed of the player, and it’s possible Watt coined the phrase himself. That said, it’s clear that Bush, who is expected to immediately step into a starting role right out of the gate of the 2019 season, is making good on the high expectations placed upon him, not to mention the draft pick the Steelers expended to land him in the first round.
