Peyton Manning: Jets never contacted me about GM job
Peyton Manning reportedly piqued the interest of the New York Jets as a potential candidate for the team’s vacant general manager job. Whether that was indeed the case or not, Manning claims he never heard from the Jets about it.
“Nobody ever contacted me,” Manning told the New York Post’s Mark Cannizzaro. ” … And I’m not sure I was qualified anyway.”
Manning has been targeted by NFL teams for front office positions as well as networks for broadcasting jobs since his retirement. The future Pro Football Hall of Famer has instead opted to be extremely patient while determining his next move, a notion reinforced by the fact Manning announced his retirement back in 2016.
It’s not as if the legendary signal-caller has remained out of the spotlight, though. Between his ongoing appearances in commercials to his ESPN show in which he breaks down game film, Manning certainly maintains a public profile.
Whatever Manning ultimately elects to do, if he ever does, in the world of football, regardless of field, remains to be seen. Either way, don’t expect him to disappear anytime soon.
