Tracy Morgan suggests Kevin Durant free-agency pitch for Knicks

Much has been made regarding the supposed inevitability of Kevin Durant joining the New York Knicks this coming offseason, but if it’s not in the bag quite yet, Tracy Morgan believes he has the pitch to make it a slam dunk.

The former “Saturday Night Live” alum and “30 Rock” funnyman — not to mention native New Yorker — made an appearance this week on “The Dan Patrick Show.” While discussing Durant, the comedian touted how the Big Apple is essentially the modern-day Rome, among other things, in his trademark eccentrically hilarious manner.

“This is Rome,” Morgan said, as transcribed by Dime Mag. “Ok? This is Rome. You win a ring here, Wall Street is right down the block, Kevin. Win a ring here, you can sell all the Big Macs and Cadillacs you want after that. This the biggest market in the world. The Knicks could be in last place, we still make the most money in the NBA. This is New York City, baby. Rome. You in the center of the universe.”

Morgan also endorsed the notion that should Durant call Madison Square Garden home starting next season, the Golden State Warriors superstar will bring along one of his buddies, which also has been the source of rampant speculation.

What’s more, Morgan believes the Knicks will win the NBA Draft Lottery and bring in the consensus No. 1 pick in the draft.

“Kevin is coming Kyrie (Irving) is coming,” Morgan added. “And I already spoke to the government about the ball dropping, so we’re getting Zion (Williamson).”

Whether all the speculation and such concerning Durant ends up accurate remains to be seen, although the Knicks are said to be examining creative ways to lure the superstar to New York amid all the fanfare.

The fact that Tracy Morgan is calling it as well, though, may be all the evidence the NBA world needs at this point.
