Joel Embiid candidly explains fallout from bout with gastroenteritis

Joel Embiid managed to play in Monday’s 94-89 Game 2 victory over the Toronto Raptors despite battling through a bout with gastroenteritis, and the Philadelphia 76ers star candidly explained afterward the unfortunate consequences of suffering through such a malady.

Embiid was declared probable for Game 2, with a report stating he did not participate in Monday’s shootaround and instead remained back at the team hotel. According to Embiid, some of the time spent recovering from his illness — which also included receiving an IV — involved some unpleasantness.

To put it mildly, Embiid was dealing with some gastrointestinal distress, though the Sixers superstar opted to describe things in a much more colorful manner.

Embiid seems to have no issue whatsoever with publicly revealing the nature and extent of things when he encounters stomach issues, as he had candidly done the same earlier this season.

Despite suffering through the gastroenteritis-related issues, Embiid played 32 minutes Monday night, scoring 12 points while adding six rebounds and five assists.
