Julian Edelman jokingly offers his services to Red Sox bullpen
Julian Edelman was on hand at Fenway Park on Tuesday for the Boston Red Sox’s home opener. After giving a good showing during a ceremonial first pitch, the New England Patriots wide receiver jokingly offered up his services to the Red Sox bullpen.
The Patriots had been invited by the Red Sox to the home opener so both teams could celebrate their respective championships. Edelman, along with teammate Stephen Gilmore and the recently retired Rob Gronkowski, handled ceremonial first pitch duties ahead of the game.
Edelman shared video of the pregame pitches, writing on Instagram, “Tryna make em chase the high heat.”
Edelman later shared a more close-up view of his pitch, and in the Instagram post, suggested he’s good to go should the Red Sox need any bullpen help.
The Red Sox have stumbled to a surprising 3-9 record out of the gate, but the bullpen has not been the biggest issue. Red Sox relievers currently rank 11th in baseball with a 3.61 ERA, so odds are the team won’t be reaching out to Edelman anytime soon. The offer from the Pats wideout was awfully thoughtful, though.
