Great photo of Luke Voit’s hit-by-pitch wows Internet
New York Yankees designated hitter Luke Voit had a phenomenal day at the plate overall in Thursday’s 7-2 Opening Day win over the Baltimore Orioles, but it’s an incredible photo that illustrates exactly what happens when a batter gets hit by a pitch that’s eliciting the biggest reactions.
Voit was plunked during his at-bat in bottom of the fifth inning by Orioles pitcher Mike Wright, and Cut4 tweeted out a stunning image that captured the precise moment just after the baseball drilled him in the left elbow.

Not surprisingly, Twitter went absolutely wild over the crazy image capture that showcased Voit’s heavily indented elbow.
One Twitter user wrote that the “ball was transferred to the disabled list,” and included an ambulance emoji.
“I heard the baseball didn’t make it. Died on the way to the hospital. Sad stuff,” another wrote.
Some even asked to see “the dent in the ball from bouncing off a man made of steel.
Voit, who belted a three-run homer in his first at-bat in the first inning — a great start to a day when he reached base four times and drove in four runs — shrugged off the hit-by-pitch.
“It’s all good, brush it off,’’ Voit said, via the New York Post. “No worries, good to go.’’
