Boston-area brewery pays tribute to Rob Gronkowski

Tributes are pouring in for Rob Gronkowski after the New England Patriots tight end announced his retirement over the weekend, and one from a Boston-area brewery is sure to impress Gronk.

Night Shift Brewing, based in Everett, Mass., brews a double India pale ale called The 87 — in tribute to the address of their taproom and coincidentally Gronkowski’s jersey number — and the latest batch will honor Gronkowski with a stamp on cans, which reads, “CHEERS GRONK!.”

Gronkowski is known for enjoying a cold one from time to time, so there’s always the possibility he’ll take them up on the salute, perhaps even with an 87. It merits noting that Gronk once insisted he doesn’t “crush beers” or anything like that, which doesn’t quite sound right.

Interestingly, another Massachusetts brewery paid tribute to Tom Brady earlier this year by quoting the quarterback’s infamous but profane boast ahead of the AFC Championship Game on the bottom of cans.

Later, none other than iconic Boston brewery Samuel Adams honored Brady with a GOAT beer that came in cans fittingly depicting the Patriots superstar with the head of, well, a goat.
