Patriots celebrate Rob Gronkowski’s best off-field antics in tribute video

Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement Sunday, and the New England Patriots are celebrating the man, myth and legend known as Gronk with a greatest-hits video celebrating his best off-the-field antics.

The video fittingly opens with footage of Gronkowski uttering his trademark phrase, “Yo soy fiesta,” and takes off from there.

Gronkowski without question enjoyed a Hall of Fame-caliber career, but what made him such a popular player was his offbeat antics, which a former member of the Patriots coaching staff understands all too well.

While occasionally sophomoric with a tinge of frat-boy mentality thrown into the mix, Gronkowksi became one of the NFL’s most popular stars thanks to his outgoing, sometimes outrageous personality.

It does merits noting, though, that Gronkowski was also known for having a heart of gold, as evidenced by his countless charitable endeavors, something that offered a balance to his party-hearty persona.

All told, Gronkowski will go down as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history as well as one of the most charismatic personalities ever to play professional football. With the “Summer of Gronk” now lasting all year long, there’s no reason to expect him to disappear into anonymity anytime soon, either.
