Kyler Murray cryptically retweets cryptic Odell Beckham tweet

If it was not hard enough for fans to infer what a popular athlete is trying to convey with cryptic musings on social media, now we have them retweeting cryptic tweets from other stars to deliver a cryptic message of their own.

While that may sound confusing, what Kyler Murray did Tuesday night is pretty simple on its surface: He cryptically retweeted a cryptic tweet from New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

What is confusing, however, is what Murray was attempting to get at with his one-word “LIKEWISE” message.

The belief is Murray’s retweet of Beckham’s tweet was a reaction or commentary to unflattering reports concerning his performance in interviews at last week’s NFL Scouting Combine.

Former NFL general manager Charley Casserly, now an analyst, reported this week that he heard some brutal things about Murray.

Reactions to Casserly’s bombshell have been a mixed bag, with Lincoln Riley, Murray’s coach at Oklahoma, not surprisingly defending his former player to an anonymous NFL coach somewhat confirming the veracity of the report.

What Murray was reacting to with his cryptic retweet of the cryptic tweet from Beckham — whose own motivations are another story altogether — may never be known, but his social media activity Tuesday night certainly made for a novel approach to Twitter crypticness.
