Patrick Mahomes had front-row seat to LeBron James’ dagger
LeBron James’ clutch three-pointer in the waning moments of the fourth quarter sealed a crucial 125-119 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans Wednesday night at Staples Center, and a fellow MVP had a front-row seat to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar’s dagger shot.
James’ off-balance triple from the corner with just over 30 seconds remaining somehow found its way in, giving the Lakers an insurmountable 123-117 lead.

Standing just a few feet away from James as he sunk the improbable shot was none other than Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Patrick Mahomes.
Video shot from just beyond the baseline shows how Mahomes enjoyed a remarkably up-close look at James’ big-time shot.

The two superstars later enjoyed a friendly exchange on Twitter after the game.
Good to have you in the building tonight MVP!! https://t.co/9qvrowSqPv— LeBron James (@KingJames) February 28, 2019
James was asked after the game whether he knew Mahomes was practically standing in his shadow during the shot.
.@PatrickMahomes was right where he should be tonight, because MVPs sit courtside to watch @KingJames pic.twitter.com/YTF8hNcA9i— FOX Sports (@FOXSports) February 28, 2019
“I did not,” James told reporters. “I knew he was at the game. I had seen him on the Jumbotron, but I didn’t know where he was sitting. I know he was courtside. As he should be courtside. He’s MVP.”
It certainly made for an interesting night for both Mahomes and James, although it merits noting the latter is again involved with some in-team intrigue due to some arguably ambiguous antics earlier in the game.
