Release date announced for upcoming Kevin Durant bio

A release date for a new biography Kevin Durant has been announced, and the title alone has already inspired some serious snark on social media.

Titled, “KD: Kevin Durant’s Relentless Pursuit to Be the Greatest,” is written by Marcus Thompson II, who serves as Bay Area lead columnist for The Athletic and previously was a longtime Golden State Warriors beat reporter. The new bio will be released on May 14.

“The NBA has never seen a player quite like Kevin Durant. Larry Bird wasn’t as quick, Magic Johnson didn’t have such a range, and Michael Jordan wasn’t seven feet tall,” the biography’s description reads on Amazon. “Durant handles the ball like Allen Iverson, shoots like Dirk Nowitzki, and has the scoring instincts of Kobe Bryant. He does it in a body that’s about as big as Hakeem Olajuwon. But ultimately, Kevin Durant is like no one but himself.

As noted, social media is having a field day with the book’s title, mostly by riffing on the notion that Durant joined the Warriors to “cheat his way into a championship,” as Charles Barkley once put it.

As noted, some of the responses to Thompson’s above tweet on Twitter are heavy on the snark — although there are many favorable reactions to the bio was well — but the below response sums up the general tone of the tweeted responses issued by naysayers.

One has to wonder if Durant — known for being somewhat thin-skinned at times — will take issue with any critics of his upcoming biography.
