James Harrison: Antonio Brown needs a ‘fresh start’
The Antonio Brown saga is showing no signs of slowing down, and among the latest developments in the drama is James Harrison stating that his friend may need a “fresh start.”
Harrison made an appearance this week on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” and shared his impression that Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers are mired in an untenable situation.
“I think it’s come to a point where I don’t believe things can be ironed out, so to speak,” he said of the unraveling relationship between Brown and the organization, as transcribed by Steeler Depot. “I feel like it’s time that maybe he gets a fresh start somewhere else where he can build a whole different rapport, relationship with new coaches, new teammates, and start off from there.”
“I think he just wants to get the same respect and say as he feels other players get that he doesn’t get,” but added when asked that this is not something that Brown has told him directly, but more so “just from the vibe that I get.”
Harrison, it ought to be noted, has an axe to grind with the Steelers organization — despite being a team legend — due to how the team unceremoniously cut him loose late during the 2017 season, one in which he rarely played.
Still, Harrison is a confidante of Brown, something illustrated by how the two recently appeared in a video in which an “exclusive interview” was teased. Brown later revealed that was all a joke, however.
There have been so many twists and turns in recent days and weeks — including a legitimate suitor reportedly emerging — that it’s difficult to predict what may happen next.
That said, even though Harrison is merely speculating about what lies ahead, everything that has happened makes it seem the disgruntled wide receiver and the Steelers may have reached the point of no return.
