Nick Foles sports webbed footwear at press conference
Nick Foles stepped in for an injured Carson Wentz and kept the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff hopes alive with Sunday’s victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
During his press conference Wednesday, it was Foles’ choice of footwear, not his play in the win, that appeared to elicit the most attention from the media.
Foles strolled to the podium rocking some unorthodox webbed shoes — foot gloves, if you will — which not surprisingly inspired some questions.
Nick Foles is rocking these shoes (?) right now. Said they’re comfortable and he’s been wearing them around his house. Not worried about fashion statements. #Eagles pic.twitter.com/D9NBoktDkg— Dave Zangaro (@DZangaroNBCS) December 19, 2018
“I was wearing them around the house and I thought I’d wear them to the facility and try it out,” Foles said, via NBC Sports Philadelphia. “My wife thought I was a little crazy. I’m not really worried how I look. They’re comfy.”
“Fixing my toes. You wear cleats all your life, you know, your toes don’t look too good.”
Foles will play again in Week 16 against the Houston Texans, and with Wentz dealing with a stress fracture in his back, the best backup quarterback in the league — not to mention reigning Super Bowl MVP — is expected to start the rest of the season.
With that in mind, let’s hope Foles keeps sporting the webbed shoes as he continues his efforts to save the Eagles’ season. They are pretty stylish, albeit in an odd way, after all.
