Kevin Love: Matthew Dellavedova will have statue like LeBron, only ‘smaller’

Matthew Dellavedova is back with the Cleveland Cavaliers after two years away with the Milwaukee Bucks courtesy of a trade last week, and it’s clear fans are thrilled to have him back.

In fact, Kevin Love even referred to Dellavedova as a “folk hero” in Cleveland, and the reception the fan favorite received Wednesday night at Quicken Loans Arena during a 113-106 win over the New York Knicks seemed to justify the moniker.

Dellavedova entered the game — his first at home since rejoining the Cavs — at the 4:14 mark of the first quarter and was met with loud cheers, with many fans giving him a standing ovation while others held signs.

Toward the end of the game, “Delly” even inspired “MVP” chants inside The Q.

Following the victory, even Dellavedova’s teammates got in on the mVP chant action in a game in which he scored 15 points.

Dellavedova took to Twitter Wednesday night to express his appreciation for how warmly he’s been welcomed back into the fold.

Delly also articulated his gratitude in words after the win, as tweeted out by the Cavs.

Love perhaps summed up Cleveland’s love for Dellavedova by putting him up on a pedestal akin to LeBron James, although Dellavedova’s may be a bit shorter than The King’s.

“Bron will have a statue outside and Delly will have a little, smaller one,” Love quipped, via Cleveland.com.
